grasping the nettle.

With the arrival of spring, nettles pop up everywhere. The stinging nettle is dreaded by many. Rudolf Steiner, on the other hand, could not praise the plant more highly. He recommended that "(i)t should actually be growing all around our hearts, since the role it plays in nature by virtue of its marvelous inner structure and way of working is very similar to that of the heart in human organism." (Steiner, R, Agriculture, p 99)

We have not yet tried making BD prep 504as Steiner suggested, but we certainly like eating them. We cook some just like spinach, and the water used for cooking is a good soup stock. a knitter's natter uses it for dying wool. It is also medicinal, according to wikipedia.

A stinging but very useful plant for us.
