chook houses.

Because we don't have any carpentery skills we had to ask our neighbours and friends to build the first couple of chook accommodation facilities. We started with just one breed, silver barnevelders with one rooster. Soon we decided to get some silkies with a rooster, mainly for their broody qualities. When we inherited another rooster, it was time for me to work out a subdivision.

This is the first 'serious' chook accommodation I built.
The upper structure just sits on a stool to maximise the run space, and to provide extra shelter on wet days. The roof is also detachable. In theory the whole structure is movable, but we had to leave it behind when we moved.

This one is a movable hatchery, built mostly from salvaged material.

This is built for ducks. Pallets were used for both the floor and the roof. This is also meant to be moveable, but it turned out to be too heavy to move without an extra pair of hands.
