power usage

We received a letter from our electricity supplier, meridian saying that our usage between Aug 15 2007 and Aug 19 2008 was 6,254 kwh, which works out over 17 kwh a day. Before we moved in we anticipated somewhere around 15 and 20 kwh a day, with an electric range and electric hot water supply. Now both of them have been replaced by firewood harvested and processed at home, so we can probably expect somewhere below 10 kwh a day, or somewhere around 8 or 9 kwh maybe. We would like to further cut our electricity usage. Though it comes from a renewable hydro source, we are vulnerable to any disruption and black or brown outs. At this time next year, our annual electricity usage should be less than 3,000 kwh.
